Big game puts ‘Super’ spotlight on AgiLight

BY ELLIE DEES

AgiLight was in a “Super” spotlight as the world turned its attention to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

Allegiant Stadium played host to the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. And the bold, sleek Allegiant Stadium facade features ULTRA 670 modules from AgiLight!

The stadium, home to the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, is the largest entertainment venue in Las Vegas. It seats more than 70,000 people at Super Bowl capacity. At 207 feet high, the stunning façade is more than 410,000 square feet of massive black glass and aluminum panels. Each insulated panel is almost the size of a basketball court at 54 ft by 84 ft. The stark black panels are offset by brilliant, clean white lines and channel letters.

Our amazing partners at YESCO specified ULTRA 670 LEDs from AgiLight on the facade of the 10-level domed stadium. The Allegiant Stadium channel letters are more than 18 feet tall, illuminated evenly in sign-bright 6500K.

The lustrous white stripes, inspired by the distinctive lines of a luxury sports car, are illuminated by matching 6500K ULTRA 670 modules, which were chosen for their color consistency, efficiency and powerful lumen output.

The glorious Allegiant starburst logos — the only colors on the facade – feature ULTRA 670 modules in 4000K.

The retractable natural grass playing field set the stage as Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs against Christian McCaffrey’s 49ers. R&B superstar Usher performed at halftime before the Chiefs eked out a dramatic 25-22 overtime win. And the stadium facade shined as bright as Taylor Swift smiling at Travis Kelce afterwards, thanks to AgiLight!

Certifications and Awards

The Allegiant Stadium project was developed by Arup, in partnership with architect of record HNTB, design architect Manica Architecture, project manager CAA Icon, and Mortensen & McCarthy Joint Venture. The stadium achieved LEED Gold certification in 2023 and is the first NFL stadium to operate on fully renewable energy. The WSP USA lighting design earned a Merit Award at the IES 2021 Illumination Awards. Allegiant Stadium also won the “Best of the Best” prize from the Engineering News-Record in the sports and entertainment category.

This isn’t AgiLight’s first time at the big game. AgiLight modules also illuminate the channel letters at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where the Patriots beat the Rams in Super Bowl LIII. And in 2026, Super Bowl LX will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., home to the 49ers — and more AgiLight modules!
