There are countless reasons why the average business owner should use LEDs in their lighting solutions, but we’ll keep it simple. Here are 9:
Efficiency – Study after study shows that LEDs are the most energy-efficient light source. Traditional lighting sources waste a lot of energy, giving off up to 90% of their energy as heat. Even the Department of Energy says that LEDs use 20-25% of the energy and last 15 to 25 times longer than the traditional lighting they replace.
Cost – Simply put, LEDs save you money two ways. First, they use far less energy than traditional light sources, so you have a smaller electric bill. Second, they last far longer, so you don’t have to spend on maintenance and materials to replace them nearly as often.
Performance – LEDs offer steady light. There is no ugly flicker, like you see with fluorescent lighting. LEDs require no warm-up time. Hit the switch and there they are! And they perform well in both the heat and the cold.
Versatility – Premium LED modules can be manufactured in a wide variety of precise white color temperatures. Used with DMX controls or a dimmer, many LED products can be tuned to exact degrees, and color changing RGB products can generate more than 16 million colors. (That’s not a typo.)
Precision – LEDs don’t waste light. They are directional in nature – shining light where you want it to go, especially when produced with superior optic lenses or used in concert with custom channel fixtures. That means you can focus your energy and cut down on light pollution as well.
Safety – LEDs don’t emit UV radiation. They don’t use mercury. And they are Solid State lighting, which means they don’t need any glass in the manufacturing process.
CRI – Most premium LEDs get high marks on the Color Rendering Index. Simply put, if an LED is rated with a CRI of 90+ that means you will see colors as they are meant to be seen.
Lifespan – Companies like Acolyte and AgiLight produce LED products that stand the test of time – on average, they last for more than 50,000 hours.
