Acolyte earns Declare labels for RibbonLyte and channel extrusions
RibbonLyte and channel products from Acolyte now feature the Declare label.
Developed by the International Living Future Institute, the Declare label is a transparency platform for manufacturers, like a nutrition label, that shows customers a product is one they can trust. Labels monitor “Red List” chemicals considered “worst-in-class” substances in the building industry. The Declare database is an easy way for conscientious designers, developers, businesses and homeowners to specify products that meet the requirements of leading green building standards, including Core Green Building, Living Building Challenge (LBC), LEED, Fitwel, BREEAM and WELL certifications.
Declare labels list all intentionally added ingredients and residuals at or above 100 parts per million (0.01%) present in a final product. Acolyte channel extrusions are all Red List-free. And RibbonLyte of every variety and ingress protection level (IP20, IP65 and IP68) is Red List approved. Declare labels for applicable products can now be found as downloads on the AcolyteLED.com website.

‘Excellent’ circularity, too
The addition of Declare labels comes just months after RibbonLyte and channel fixtures from Acolyte achieved an “excellent” TM66 rating. “Excellent” is the highest attainable TM66 level of circularity for manufacturing. Developed by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL), TM66 provides measures to assess the circularity of lighting fixtures. It is an exacting 72-step guideline that demands proof of the highest standards from product designers and manufacturers. TM66 considers several methods of assessing a product’s circular economy performance and real-world examples of good practice. Categories include product design, manufacturing techniques, materials and services. The goal? To facilitate more sustainable building practices across the board. Ratings range from “very poor” to “excellent” circular economy performance.
