Children’s Mercy Kansas City is one of the nation’s top tier children’s hospitals, ranked in 10 specialties by U.S. New & World Report. Dedicated to research and innovation, education and holistic care, Children’s Mercy serves some half a million children a year. In early 2021, officials unveiled a $200 million, nine-story, 375,000-sq.-ft. building on the Adele Hall Campus that houses the Children’s Mercy Research Institute. Designed by BSA LifeStructures, the building façade intones DNA sequences from real patients with a rare disease. Inside, the Discovery Café features stunning drop ceilings that incorporate more than 350 2-by-2 Color Changing Panel Lyte fixtures from Acolyte specified through Brock Engineering and our fantastic partners at Premier Lighting and Controls of Lee’s Summit, Mo. The Color Changing Panel Lyte provides a luminous glow for a decorative wire metal mesh design inspired by microscopic cellular patterns.
